Apart from the 2.6.x side, have you played with WhiteBox linux yet? It's RH
Enterprise Linux with Samba+ACL, Ext3+ACL, and being repackaged from RH
sources, it should also have the changelogs with relevant kernel configs,
package requirements, and patch listings.
See if ACLs are going to work for you, before mixing in kernel upgrades as
well....
