I have recently changed two of my machines from McAfee to AVG - I have not had any problems.

AVG appears to have a smaller footprint, and is less of a burden on my older machines.

The user interface is simple and effective, I perform manual updates which are always quick and 
easy ( Not like McAfee updates which are at least 2.6Mb and growing.

So far it has found every test virus I have tried it on.
