Hi Guys
here is more info. This page will confirm whether your NB5 Modem Router
will require a hardware upgrade or whether the upgrade can be achieved
simply by an ADSL2+ firmware installation. Please complete the form below.
IMPORTANT: Please ensure that you complete all details correctly as an
automated reference number and shipping details will be drawn from the
details entered. Not completing this correctly will result in
non-processing of your request or mis-shipment of your NB5 back to you.
NetComm accepts no responsibility for incorrect information entered.
This information will be used for the purpose of this upgrade only and
will not be used for any other purpose, nor will it be shared with any
third party.
A new generation of ADSL communications technology called ADSL2+ will be
more commonly available in Australia in the coming months.
If you currently own a NetComm NB5 ADSL/ADSL2/2+ Modem Router and you
wish to take advantage of the higher data transmission speeds offered by
ADSL-2+, your ISP must offer an ADSL2+ service. Please consult your ISP
for further details.
If your ISP supports ADSL2+ and it is offered in your local area, you
can confirm if your unit must be returned to NetComm to arrange an upgrade.
If you are not interested in subscribing to an ADSL2+ service then no
upgrade of your unit will be necessary as your unit will operate fully
on an ADSL or ADSL2 service.
To confirm if you unit requires upgrading please click here to continue.
Important Notes:
1. This information applies only to owners of NetComm NB5
ADSL/ADSL2/2+ Modem Router. It will not be necessary to upgrade other
NetComm products. The NB5Plus4 and NB5Plus4W are currently ADSL2+
compatible and do NOT require an upgrade or adjustment.
2. This process is for the upgrade of NB5 Modem/Routers only. It may
NOT be used for the return of any other product.
Is my NB5 ADSL 2+ compliant??
Problem/Symptom: Modem may not be compatible with an ADSL2+ service
(offered specifically by an ISP).
Cause: The NB5 was one of the first ADSL2 compatible modems in the
market. It was our intention that the change to ADSL2+ would be achieved
by the user through a free firmware (software) update. An initial batch
of units was manufactured prior to ADSL2+ firmware being available.
Upon testing of the firmware, our engineers found that the ADSL2+
firmware could not work on the units without a hardware modification.
Resolution: Please visit http://www.netcomm.com.au/Support/NB5/ to
determine if your NB5 requires an hardware or firmware upgrade. N.B. you
will require your NB5 serial number.
