Tried it. Nothing

Yep. Both work. At least I now have a way of switching using the Sysrq
(I always knew there would be a use for that when I compiled my kernel)

 From /var/log/Xorg.0.log
(**) |-->Input Device "Generic Keyboard"
(**) Option "XkbRules" "xorg"
(**) XKB: rules: "xorg"
(**) Option "XkbModel" "pc104"
(**) XKB: model: "pc104"
(**) Option "XkbLayout" "us"
(**) XKB: layout: "us"
....
(II) XINPUT: Adding extended input device "Configured Mouse" (type: MOUSE)
(II) XINPUT: Adding extended input device "Generic Keyboard" (type:
KEYBOARD)
(EE) Couldn't load XKB keymap, falling back to pre-XKB keymap

Would this have anything to do with it?
