you are asking for UDP responses, it's a sessionless connection. unless you have a daemon sitting somewhere responding to your UDP packets, then you could do some monitoring..
with vid confrencing, change the stream to a lower/higher quality, and do your testing from there.

?
I use rrdtool few a few things, including my bandwidth monitoring backend, but it has no network functionality.
Basically I need an app to display politely to a non technical user that video conferencing cant be run over the link they are proposing.

Hey Guys,
I'd like to test a link for maximum bandwidth before losing packets with udp.
Ideally the output would look something like:
Sending packets at 10Kb/s (5 seconds) - no packets lost, increasing rate
Sending packets at 13Kb/s (5 seconds) - no packets lost, increasing rate
Sending packets at 16Kb/s (5 seconds) - 2 packets lost, decreasing rate
Sending packets at 14Kb/s ......
What are people on the list using for bandwidth testing?
Carl
