I did an "emerge --update world" over the weekend, and now I can't
install "kdm", because "kde-base" is blocking it and its co-reqs. Any
ideas there?

Perhaps I should just hie me to the Gentoo support group and do a bit of
searching there instead of posing the questions here ...
