There are several utilities available for download from this page.

Just a thought :

Could it be possible that the drive in question is an IBM model ? 
(check the serial number - seeing as Hitachi took over the IBM HDD 
division some years ago.) 

If this is so - it might be wise to also have look at the HDD utilities 
available from IBM - that is, if they are still available.
