When My son started at schoool I pointedly asked the education department whether
I was going to be forced by them to use the hightly expensive winstuff.
I was assured that they were not going to force such an impass. And that other
software was supposedly acceptable.
Try talking directly to the education department themselves. Especialy point out that
Winstuff is extremely expensive for low income parents and that linux and other free
software is a good alternative.
