Yup! Thats a particular event I'd like to hear about (ie, QV.1 power going down;
has occured in the past IIRC when they conduct yearly UPS tests.. :)

Many moons ago you used to be able to call your local paging company with a modem
and submit a page or series of pages @ slowbaud (2400 or 9600 IIRC); this seems
to be quite difficult to get a hold of these days. I'm sure there were ways of
doing it over the legacy pre-IP networks; I'm sure someone here has played with
that stuff and could fill in the gaps a bit more.
