This is exactly right.
I am a member of both and for very different reasons.
You only have to look at the names, not the acronyms, to see the difference.
Perth Linux Users Group
Society of Linux Professionals (Western Australia)
Ons is a user/hobbiest/interest group, the other is a professional
business association. They are not mutually exclusive, but they serve
very, very different roles in the Linux community.
