Just downloaded and tried out avidemux . Very unstable file resulted 
from editing a simple mp4 file. Trying now an mpeg2 to see how that 
goes. I've also installed openmovieeditor (It's on the Ubuntu 
repository, which is nice). and will try that next. Will also find an 
avi to test out as well.
